Not gonna lie, this book is not your typical love story. When the synopsis starts out with “Warning…Disturbing…,” I just knew it was going to be a damn good book. And holy crap, it was raw and gritty and just wow. It’s a story about Eva, Deuce and scary motorcycle clubs, and I LOVED EVERY SINGLE PAGE! Eva and Deuce are not your average book couple, well because…they first meet when she was 5 and he was 20+something. AND they met during a prison visit. So right then, I knew their story was going to be cray-cray. Don’t freak out, nothing illegal happens when they first meet, they just form a special, lifetime bond.
It takes years and years for these two to get it right (at least right for them), but it’s not without rival Clubs, crazy exes (and I mean coo-coo), friends, and family. One particular scene that I was like WOW–who comes up with this, is a scene where Deuce is getting “special kisses below,” and then grabs Eva for a kiss on the lips. And let’s just say, they weren’t together/dating at the time, and Eva was not happy, or willing! Brilliant, Madeline! So don’t expect all hearts and flowers in this book, some scenes I had to read with one eye opened :); little uncomfortable, but well written. Please–you must add this to your To-Be-Read list.
I’m really excited for book 2, Unbeautifully, Ripper and Danny’s story. There’s a one chapter teaser that was released, so check it out.
Favorite Quote: “Been tryin’ to let you go, been tryin’ for fuckin’ years,” He said roughly. “Haven’t figured out how yet.”
Honestly, this is not a quaint love story even the synopsis says this outright. I really liked parts of this books but there were other parts I just didn’t get at all. I think a big part of that is the motorcycle club “accepted” behavior. Eva and Deuce have a long history with each other one that began when she first met him when she was 5. The story was definitely intense and a good read but if you are opposed to violence don’t read this book. This book is like a roller coaster and once you are on you are on till the end.
