White Chick, Jenn’s Review of Demon At My Door
Rating: 3.5 stars out of 5
This is the story of Natalie Sugarman and her own personal Demon “Rick” and a deal Nat made as a little girl. First, let me say I really enjoyed the interactions between Nat and Rick. While Rick is a demon he has the appearance of a tattooed biker bad boy. I have to say that I really liked Rick from the beginning and I was rooting for him.
This book takes us through the ups and downs in Natalie’s relationships – not just Rick’s but family and a secret boyfriend. I really enjoyed reading this book and felt it had a piece of everythng that I like – humor, romance, a little angst (but not too much). My only issue was I wanted more Rick and Nat.
We received an ARC of this book and I kid you not – I started reading right away and didn’t put it down till I was done – needless to say -it was a rough morning.
We were very excited to receive this ARC! Demon at My Door is my first adult paranormal romance book, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. When I think paranormal romance, I think of Twilight. But this was far from it (and much better!). It was hot and I loved the characters! Natalie Sugarman is an social outcast, who everyone thought was cray-cray, because she had a Demon at her door (literally). And of course no one believes her. At first, I actually thought she was nuts and it was going to be all in her head.
Sixteen years ago, Natalie bartered her soul to a little demon boy to save her mother from dying. And when her 21st birthday is nearly approaching, her little demon friend is ready to collect her soul. I love her attempts to kill this demon to save herself, but of course every attempt fails.
Natalie soon befriends Rick, a very charming and handsome stranger when she heads back to school. Rick and Natalie soon develop a relationship. And with her sister’s help, Natalie slowly comes out of her social shell. Rick becomes her friend, confidant, hero (yes he kicks ass!) and then boyfriend. But as their relationship develops romantically, Rick doesn’t seem to be who he really is…
