Asian Chick, Karmen’s Whisky State of Mind

Rating: 3.5 stars out of 5

Who doesn’t love books about bad boys in motorcycle clubs? Well, I do and love it! I love unconventional stories that don’t involve a typical suburban family. Whisky “Sky” McKenna is the daughter of the president of the Motorcycle Club, Black Mustangs. She’s been estranged from her father for years and forced to live with her controlling grandparents. She was sent away to live with them, after her father was sent to prison and he had his reasons for keeping her there even after his release. Sky felt abandoned, alone and held a grudge against her father and his Club for years.

Then 10 years later, after she finally breaks free and living her own life, her past comes walking back in–bringing out old feelings and reconnecting with others from her childhood at the Club. Particularly, a now hot, bad boy club member from her past, Sawyer Riley. Sawyer wants to bring back Sky to the Club to reunite her with her father, for reasons you’ll find out later….but Sky thinks her father didn’t want her after all these years and can not seem to forgive and forget. And of course sparks fly between Sawyer and Sky after spending time with each other (well…more like Sawyer following/showing up where Sky is), but it’s not easy for the two. There are club rivals, danger, love triangles and family drama that gets in the way.

Whisky State of Mind is a great, short read that ends with a HEA! And I would love to have the “mystery guy” get a spinoff book too! Not going to spoil who the “mystery guy” is for those who haven’t read this yet 🙂

I was slightly skeptical before reading this book as I was concerned there wouldn’t be a HEA, but on the advice of Asian Chick (Karmen) I read it. I am so happy I did!! Whisky “Sky” McKenna is the daughter of the president of the Motorcycle Club, Black Mustangs and Sawyer Riley (don’t you just love that name) a member of the Black Mustangs.

When Sky was young she became estranged from her father and now many years later he is back as is Sawyer. Not going to lie at all there were a few tear jerk worthy moments in this book and a little love triangle. I really did enjoy this book and it has a nice HEA.

ARC Review: Xander’s Chance (#1, Damian Eternal) by Lizzy Ford

Xander's Chance (#1, Damian Eternal)
Goodreads synopsis of Xander’s Chance

White Chick, Jenn’s Review of Xander’s Chance

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

This is the story of Xander and Jessi and if you have read the War of the God’s series you are familiar with Xander. What can I say I was so excited to hear that Xander was getting his own book and could not wait to read it. This is a paranormal romance that has vampires and God’s and other immortals and Xander happens to be a Vampire unlike any other.

Jessi is your typical girl who doesn’t believe in vampires or other things that go bump in the night until she encounters one in a dark alley. A few days later she meets Xander and unfortunately she needs something from him but she won’t tell him as their are other lives that depend on her. I honestly loved this book and loved getting to see some of the other characters from the Wrath of God’s series.

Jessi and Xander have great interactions in this book and honestly I laughed out loud a few times. This story had all the great components of my favorites: angst(not to much), suspense, danger, hot male characters and smart and sassy heroine’s. We were given a copy an ARC copy of this for a honest review and I loved it!!

So this is my first paranormal read about a vampire in a really long time, but White Chick told me I would like it and she was right. I mean a H-O-T vampire with an attitude problem that is also rock star famous what’s not to like. This was my first Lizzy Ford book and I hadn’t read any of her other books before reading this so I was a little worried I would be lost in the book, but I wasn’t.

I really liked this book and the two main characters Xander and Jessi. This had angst in and a few times I did yell at my kindle for Jessi to do things differently!! But it does have a HEA and we all know how I love HEA’s. I am definitely glad I read this book and look forward to reading more!!

BLOG TOUR STOP! Truth and Humility by J.A. Dennam: Book Review

Truth and HumilityGoodreads synopsis of Truth and Humility

White Chick, Jenn’s Review of Truth and Humility

Rating:    4 stars out of 5

We got an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.  This is the story Danny Bennett and Austin Cahill and the family feud that has gone on between these two families for years.  Danny wants to get her engineering degree and in order to pay for it she takes a job with Austin Cahill.  Austin Cahill is instantly suspicious of this as there is a lot of bad blood in this family.

I honestly loved this book and the interaction between Danny and Austin.  This book had all the elements that I love – angst, humor, romance, tragedy and lots of surprises.  Danny and Austin are instantly attracted to each other, but Austin is fighting demons from his past and Danny is caught in the crossfire. He is your typical alpha male.

Danny is an independent woman who is just trying reach her goals despite her families interference.  The supporting characters in this book also help this be such a good story.  I will definitely be adding this author’s books to my TBR list.  Go get this book and read it!!  It’s a steal right now on amazon!!

Talk about family feud! The Bennett and the Cahill families have been feuding more than an century. But Derek Bennett and Austin Cahill were secret best friends growing up. Hiding their “brotherhood” friendship from their families, until a dark secret and accident tears them apart. They spend their adulthood hating and plotting for revenge on each other.

Danielle “Danny” Bennett, the feisty sister of the Bennett clan, is devoted to her family and the family business. She wants to learn more about the business–rather than tearing things down, she wants to learn to build. So in order to further herself, she enrolls in college, without the financial backing of her father. So Danny turns to the Austin Cahill for work to pay for college.

Austin Cahill is so full revenge and anger against Derek, he takes his plan out on Danny. He makes her work life with him unbearable. Needless to say, Austin is a total douche to her. But eventually his plans backfires on him–spending time with Danny, he starts to have feelings for her. Between family feuds, family dramas and other outsiders wanting revenge on them, their relationship is nothing but easy.

This book is a tiny bit confusing, characters were thrown in there without an explanation of who they were, but later you got their full story and whey they are there. But overall, this book was full of action, drama, love and heartbreak. A great read for a weekend!

Rating: 3 stars out of 5

This is the story of Autumn and Nathan and let me tell you I loved Nathan. We were given this book for an honest review. And while I didn’t have as many issues with Autumn as my counterpart, I did really enjoy the story. It had all the things I love in books – hot alpha male, danger, stardom!!!

Autumn Raine is a pop vocalist at the very top of her game and Nathan Regan, an ex-elite soldier who is assigned to protect her. So we received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. And when I tell you I was really excited to read this book I’m not joking. It had all the elements I love in a book with this ex-elite soldier but sadly the main female character made me annoyed. Autumn came across in the beginning of the book as self-centered, selfish, rude, etc and I thought that maybe I would like her more as the book went on but sadly I didn’t. She actually ruined the book for me and this was a great story but I couldn’t feel bad for Autumn when I all I wanted to do was tell her off!!

Now Nathan…he was delicious… I loved him. He was your typical alpha male who you just wanted to come protect you.
