MASON INTERVIEW… Our sit down with hottie Mason, our resident Rock Star from Metamorphosis.
Karmen & Jenn: Thank you for stopping by our blog! We are virgins when it comes to this blog tour. Try to go easy on us…
Mason: Virgins, huh? Ha – I’ve got a new found appreciation 🙂
Karmen & Jenn: We knew you would!
Karmen & Jenn: Let’s get the “Rock Star” question out of the way first. How and when did you get started? What’s the deal with the nickname, Rat?
Mason: I started playing around with the guitar when I was a kid, but never took music serious until I was in high school. Me and my friends put together a garage band and started playing at parties and stuff. When my brother Marcus opened the bar, it gave us a place to play regularly. As for the name Rat, my friend Cruz started calling me that when we were kids in little league. Our coach used to call us all by our last name, and so after he yelled “Templeton” for the twentieth time on the first day of practice, Cruz yelled out “Come on Rat boy!” It got shortened to Rat shortly and that’s just what everyone has called me ever since.
Karmen & Jenn: Tell us about your Harley. Were you really thinking about getting one before Scarlett even mentioned it? Or was it her comment about having the entire bad boy package with it?
Mason: Yeah, I hated that car. It looked great but I was too big and it was uncomfortable as shit. I’ve always wanted a bike, so when Angel said something about it, I thought “yep, definitely need a Harley.”
Karmen & Jenn: You have (or should we say had) the rep of fitting the Rock Star persona–how should we put this nicely? Man-whore? Player? What is it about Scarlett that attracted you to her when you saw her the first time at the Warehouse? You knew she was “the one,” right?
Mason: Being in a band has definitely allowed me the opportunity to enjoy my share of the ladies, but I’ve never been against being in a relationship. I had a serious girlfriend for a while, but things didn’t work out. I’m not sure I believe in “the one,” but I definitely knew there was something special about Scarlett when I saw her the first time. She had this look about her… I knew she was supposed to be in my life.
Karmen & Jenn: What was really going through your mind after that first time you meet in the secondary bedroom at the Warehouse? *eye wiggle*
Mason: Uh… I plead the fifth? No, actually I was kind of in shock. I figured Scarlett wasn’t real experienced, but I didn’t think there was any way she was a virgin. Who looks like that and hasn’t been fu—I mean had sex? And for her to do what she did… I mean, wow. It was hot.
Karmen & Jenn: How much do you really know about Scarlett and Ash’s relationship? Ash is determined to win her back, you know. But we are so Team Mason!
Mason: I’ve known since the day I met Angel that there was something with her and that asshat- from the way she was trying to make him jealous to when I watched him pull her out of the bar. God, it took everything in me not to jump off of that stage and beat the shit out of him then. But when she came back in and spent the rest of the night with me, I thought I had a shot. He’s determined to win her back, eh? Well, good luck with that. He had his chance and he didn’t take it.
Karmen & Jenn: When did you find out about Evie?
Mason: I found out the afternoon that Scarlett left. I was going crazy trying to find her. I thought she had just freaked out because of what happened, and I got pissed at her. I called and called, and she wouldn’t answer. I didn’t want to get anyone else involved, I thought she would at least call me, but after a few hours, I called Max to see if Evie knew where she was. That’s when he told me. That’s when it all made sense.
Karmen & Jenn: After you woke up that morning, being with Scarlett (her first time), what was going through your mind? Did you think she run? Did you ever think you’d see her again?
Mason: I knew something was up with Angel when she came over that night, but I just thought she was stressed from her finals that week. Then after everything happened, I just went to sleep. I had no idea that I would wake up alone the next morning. For a while, I thought she would come back… after things calmed down and she had a chance to think about things. But after 5 or 6 months had passed without a word, I accepted she was gone.
Karmen & Jenn: 8 months later, Scarlett walked back into your life (actually onto the stage). Were you shocked, pissed, surprised or happy to see her again? She confessed that you were her fairytale and Prince. *swoon*
Mason: Shocked and surprised more than anything. I had gotten over my anger as soon as I found out about Evie, Like I said, I really didn’t think I’d ever see her again, and if I did, I definitely didn’t think it would be with her standing on that stage. I’m not going to lie, her singing a song to me and all that shit she said was really bad ass. I wanted her back the minute I saw her again.
Karmen & Jenn: Well thank you for taking time to stop by our blog and we hope next time, we can sit down with you and Scarlett!

Team Ash? Team Mason? I’m torn between the two!
Metamorphosis was a quick, sweet and heartbreaking read for me. And I’m wanting book 2, Ambrosia, now! Scarlett, an 18 year old, who has been sheltered her entire life by her parents and then sort of disowned for wanting to live her life in college. Her BFF, Evie, was her escape to live in the “real” world and her new college roommate. They both agreed that it was time Scarlett start living in the real world, first by finding herself a real “book boyfriend!” I loved their friendship in this book. Both Evie and Scarlett were huge readers of books (actual books we love and read!) and I love how they compared these books to their lives. So of course, on her mission to find herself a real “book boyfriend,” she meets Ash.
Ash is the hot man whore, the hot player! And during the same night, she meets Dylan. Dylan is the sweet likable guy (yes, I thought he had no chance!). Scarlett and Ash soon become close friends, only after he tells her that they shouldn’t date, because he isn’t good for her and knows he would hurt her. They continue this “friendship” and watch each other hook-up with others, knowing that it’s hurtful to see.
Then along comes, Mason. Mason is the typical book boyfriend for Scarlett. He’s hot, tattooed, oh and a local rock star! He lives up to his rock star status–a player, but Mason immediately falls for Scarlett. He is sweet, takes care of her and is always there for her. Soon, Scarlett finds herself in a little love triangle…
And who do I choose? Team Ash or Team Mason? I know Mason is perfect for her and the right choice. He loves her and has not hurt his “Angel,” unlike Ash, who hurts her over and over. But Ash and Scarlett have this bond, like soul mates. So this is why I’m still torn between the two. BUT…I’m leaning towards Mason. Maybe Ash will redeem himself in book 2, but then that will just confuse me more!

Team Mason! I’m Team Mason all the way. Why? Cause he’s hot, tatted, and a rock star. But that’s not the only reason…he clearly loves Scarlett. He is sweet to her and even though he knows about the ” just friends” relationship between Scarlett and Ash, he still is by her side fighting for her.
Ash is a douche. He lives up to his man whore status in this book. He is only with Scarlett when it’s convenient for him, or when she gets too close with another guy. He plays with her heart and is too scared to tell her how he really feels. Evie and Scarlett are funny together. I love their friendship and how they relate their life to smutty books (sounds familiar!). This book is refreshing and also heartbreaking. No spoilers here–you must read it yourself! I’m excited to see how the rest of the story unfolds for Scarlett, Mason and Ash in book 2. Oh and she better end up with Mason!
