Park Reed is a bastard in every sense of the word. He hasn’t always been this way. But after his heart was broken by the only girl he ever loved, being heartless gets him through the day and allows him to fill his nights with the nameless girls he has no intentions of seeing again. He now lives his life following his ever-growing list of “life lessons.”
Lucy Braden is everything Park is not. She’s sweet, caring, and an all-around nice person. She tries to follow Lucy’s Rules to Live By everyday.
When Park moves in with Jessie, which happens to be the floor below Lucy, Jessie’s one stipulation: Lucy is off limits to Park. The problem with that is Lucy is determined to be a good friend to Park and see past the drinking and random girls to find the man beneath it all. The other problem: Park follows his own rules.
*This is a New Adult novel. Recommended for 17+ due to sexual situations, harsh language, and drug and alcohol use.
Before Now is a companion novel to Sometimes Never, and many of its characters are in Park’s story. However, it can be read as a stand-alone book.

Our Review of Before Now
Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5
We absolutely loved, loved Before Now! Sure we hated Park in the first book, Sometimes Never and in Before Now, Park still is an asshole, but we fell in love with him and understood why he is the way he is! Park was pretty heartbroken (more like pissed off) over his “relationship” with Hope. He held a grudge, did whatever the hell he wanted to do (and with anyone!) and lives by a list of “life lessons”–our favorite–“Don’t talk shit to group of guys when you’re by yourself. Especially if you got a blow job from one of their girlfriends.”
To move on from Hope and her relationship with Mason (you must read Sometimes Never for their sweet/emotional story!), Park moves into a new place and meets one of the neighbor girls, Lucy. Lucy is such a sweet character and has a good heart. Park is immediately attracted to her, but knows Lucy is off limits. And Lucy knows that Park is not good for her, but the attraction between the two is strong and also dangerous–that will leave one or both heartbroken.
Before Now has plenty of angst, heartbreak, and love throughout the book! Park and Lucy’s relationship is a like a yo-yo–Park is sweet one page and then a total douche the next! He pretty much pissed us off at times, but then he would redeem himself. Before Now is such a fabulous read and highly recommended for fans of Sometimes Never. It will definitely change your opinion about Park Reed. And we LOVED the epilogue.
